Species: Physcia tribacia Photos: Bandon, Co. Cork, SW Ireland. Identification needs confirming Small, fragile, white to pale bluish-grey, flat lobes, crenulated or with marginal lobules. Lobe margins developing granular soredia. Under surface whitish, sometimes tinged faint pink, yellow or brownish. Sparse, simple rhizines. Pycnidia rare, apothecia very rare. Cilia and pseudocyphellae absent. Scattered and infrequent in Ireland, occurs on trees in sheltered, nutrient-rich sites. Also found on calcareous rocks and walls.
